A Flat Rack container is a platform-type container: it has no roof or side walls, only a floor and two fixed high end walls, front and rear. The "first-trip" designation means it is a new unit, straight from the factory after a single positioning journey. The 20ft format is the range's intermediate size.

It serves the loading of out-of-gauge cargo; OOG, for Out Of Gauge, meaning parts that exceed the width or height of a closed container. The new structure is built on a Corten steel box, a self-weathering steel that naturally resists marine corrosion, fully welded, with a 28 mm marine plywood floor.

Flat Rack or closed container: why a platform?
A closed container loads through its doors: the cargo must fit through them, staying within the opening's gauge. A part wider or taller than this opening won't fit. The Flat Rack removes the problem: with no roof or walls, it loads from the top by crane, from the sides, or from the ends.
The two high end walls, however, remain essential. They stiffen the structure, serve as lashing points, and allow stacking; containers stacked in a ship's hold. The Flat Rack is the compromise of the OOG segment: maximum loading access, but still a stable, stackable structure.
