What is a used 20 ft Half-Height Offshore DNV container?
This container is a half-height maritime casing, certified for offshore operations. "Half-Height" means the exterior height is reduced to 1.295 m. "Offshore DNV" means it is certified DNV 2.7-1, the mandatory standard for handling at sea. The term "used" means it is an inspected used unit, sourced from a used fleet that is inspected before being put back on sale.
The reduced height frees up low-clearance deck areas, while concentrating the load in a 20 ft format compatible with all offshore cranes. The casing, made of high-resilience steel, a steel that absorbs impacts without cracking, features a reinforced frame, anti-slip pads on the underside and a non-slip steel floor designed for dense loads: drilling mud, compacted rubble, massive minerals, offshore industrial waste.
The forged steel lifting rings comply with DNV 2.7-1, and a standardized spreader bar, the lifting yoke that distributes the load across the four corners, is included for transit by certified platform crane.
For a Used version, National Conteneur uses this technical base as a reference, then qualifies each unit according to its actual condition: structure, weatherproofing, doors, floor, markings, documents and equipment specific to the product family. The technical information therefore remains that of the model, while cosmetic condition, availability and certificates depend on the batch offered.
In detail
Why a DNV 2.7-1 certified container?
The DNV 2.7-1 standard, current designation DNVGL-ST-E271 since the DNV and GL merger in 2013, is issued by Det Norske Veritas, the Norwegian maritime certification body. Without it, operators such as TotalEnergies, Equinor, Shell or wind farm operators refuse loading by a platform's or supply vessel's crane.
The standard requires a battery of regulatory tests: cyclic fatigue of the lifting rings, free fall from 1.2 m onto a hard surface, unbalanced lift, lateral impact resistance. All of them simulate the stresses of handling in rough seas. The European standard EN 12079 validates the offshore complement. A load test must be renewed every 4 years, with certificate traceability.
On the Half-Height variant, the high-resilience steel and non-slip floor absorb concentrated dense loads while staying within the standard road transport gauge before maritime transit: no specific low-bed transport needed for pre-carriage to the port.
Applications
Uses for a used 20 ft Half-Height Offshore DNV container
The 20 ft half-height DNV format targets offshore flows where load density takes priority over usable volume. Four uses take advantage of it:
The applications below show the contexts in which this format is most relevant. Each use case links the on-site need to the concrete benefit of the container.
Highlights
Why buy a used 20 ft Half-Height Offshore DNV container
The inspected used 20 ft Half-Height Offshore DNV container combines offshore certification with reduced height for dense loads. The strengths below explain what this combination brings to handling heavy bulk at sea, from lifting to delivery.
The strengths below explain what each technical choice brings to the project. They help compare the product with a less specialized alternative or a different condition.
-
DNV 2.7-1 / DNVGL-ST-E271 certification
This is the condition for access to North Sea and deep-sea offshore operations. Without it, the container is refused for loading.
-
High-resilience impact-resistant steel
The structure is designed to withstand handling in rough seas. The steel absorbs the dynamic stresses of offshore lifting without cracking.
-
Standardized spreader bar
The standard lifting yoke allows pickup by any certified offshore crane. It distributes the load and makes the operation safer for personnel.
-
Reinforced frame and anti-slip pads on the underside
The reinforced frame and anti-slip pads ensure the container's stability on the ship's deck as well as on the platform.
-
1.295 m exterior height
The half-height format frees up limited-clearance deck areas and avoids any low-bed transport for road pre-carriage.
-
21,790 kg payload
The casing handles a high dense load for concentrated heavy bulk, without exceeding the half-height gauge.
-
EN 12079 compliance
The European offshore standard complementary to DNV 2.7-1 is validated, reinforcing the certification.
Applications
What is the price of a used 20 ft Half-Height Offshore DNV container
DNV-certified half-height offshore is a niche market: small production runs from a few specialized manufacturers, little idle stock, industrial cycles aligned with oil, gas and offshore wind projects.
Four factors drive the price observed:
The factors below explain why the price can vary from one quote to another. They help read a quote by distinguishing the product price, availability and delivery costs.
