What is a used 10 ft DNV Offshore container?
This container is a compact maritime casing, certified for offshore operations. "DNV Offshore" means it is certified DNV 2.7-1, the mandatory standard for handling at sea. The term "used" means it is an inspected used unit, sourced from a used fleet that is inspected before being put back on sale. The 10 ft format is the short format in the range.
This short format adapts to deck areas with constrained space, where every square meter of usable area counts: oil and gas platforms, supply vessels. The inspected used structure combines a Corten steel casing, a weathering steel that naturally resists marine corrosion, fully welded, reinforced with high-resilience carbon steel elements, and a 28 mm marine plywood floor.
The lifting equipment is complete: forged steel rings compliant with DNV 2.7-1, reinforced frame, anti-slip pads on the underside, and a spreader bar, the lifting yoke that distributes the load across the four corners, standardized and included, compatible with all certified offshore cranes.
For a Used version, National Conteneur uses this technical base as a reference, then qualifies each unit according to its actual condition: structure, weatherproofing, doors, floor, markings, documents and equipment specific to the product family. The technical information therefore remains that of the model, while cosmetic condition, availability and certificates depend on the batch offered.
In detail
Why a DNV 2.7-1 certified container?
The DNV 2.7-1 standard, current designation DNVGL-ST-E271 since the DNV and GL merger in 2013, is issued by Det Norske Veritas, the Norwegian maritime certification body. Without this certification, no container can be accepted by an offshore platform's crane. Operators (TotalEnergies, Equinor, Shell, BP, wind farm operators) require compliance before any unit can be brought on board.
The standard validates the container's strength through severe tests: cyclic fatigue of the lifting rings, free fall from 1.2 m onto a hard surface, unbalanced lift, lateral impacts. All of them reproduce the stresses of handling in rough seas. The European standard EN 12079 provides the regulatory complement. A load test is mandatory every 4 years, with documented traceability according to file.
The 10 ft format adds a further advantage: a reduced footprint, 16 m³ of usable volume in a casing 2.991 m long, which allows placement on the most constrained deck areas of supply vessels or operating platforms.
Applications
Uses for a used 10 ft DNV Offshore container
The 10 ft DNV targets offshore flows where onboard space is the primary constraint. Four uses take advantage of it:
The applications below show the contexts in which this format is most relevant. Each use case links the on-site need to the concrete benefit of the container.
Highlights
Why buy a used 10 ft DNV Offshore container
The inspected used 10 ft DNV Offshore container is designed for one thing: to be lifted and handled at sea in complete safety. The strengths below explain what each feature brings to this extreme use, certification, steel, lifting, on a compact format built for crowded decks.
The strengths below explain what each technical choice brings to the project. They help compare the product with a less specialized alternative or a different condition.
-
DNV 2.7-1 / DNVGL-ST-E271 certification
This is the condition for access to North Sea and deep-sea offshore operations. Without it, the container is refused for loading.
-
High-resilience impact-resistant steel
The structure is designed to withstand handling in rough seas. The steel absorbs impacts and dynamic stresses without cracking.
-
Standardized spreader bar
The standard lifting yoke allows pickup by any certified offshore crane. It distributes the load and makes the operation safer for personnel.
-
Reinforced frame and anti-slip pads
The reinforced frame and anti-slip pads ensure the container's stability on a ship's deck or on a wind-exposed platform.
-
Compact 10 ft format
16 m³ in a minimal footprint. This short format fits into constrained deck areas, where every square meter counts.
-
EN 12079 compliance
The complementary European offshore standard is validated. It reinforces DNV compliance for handling containers and lifting accessories at sea.

What is the price of a used 10 ft DNV Offshore container
The 10 ft DNV is a niche within a niche market: very small production runs from a few specialized manufacturers, little stock, industrial cycles aligned with offshore projects.
Four factors drive the price observed:
The factors below explain why the price can vary from one quote to another. They help read a quote by distinguishing the product price, availability and delivery costs.
