The 10 ft High Cube shipping container is a compact shipping container with increased height. "High Cube", often noted 9'6", refers to a container raised 30 cm above the standard format: 2.89 m external height, 2.69 m internal. The term "first-trip" (also called one-trip) indicates a new unit that has made only a single positioning sea voyage before being sold.
Its 17.8 m³ usable capacity exceeds that of a standard 10 ft Dry (15.8 m³), with the same floor footprint. This extra height opens up uses impossible with the standard format: vertical storage of long items, installing a suspended ceiling for technical ductwork, or fitting out as a livable module.
