In detail
What is a used 10 ft Reefer DNV Offshore container?
This container combines two critical functions. "Reefer" refers to a refrigerated container with an active cooling unit, which generates and regulates cold. "DNV Offshore" means it is certified DNV 2.7-1, the mandatory standard for handling at sea. The term "used" means it is an inspected used unit, sourced from a used fleet that is inspected before being put back on sale. The 10 ft format is the short format in the range.
The inspected used structure combines a reinforced Corten steel and stainless steel casing, polyurethane insulation, an insulating foam, and a T-bar rail floor: the "T-rail" lets cold air circulate under the load for a uniform temperature. The cooling unit regulates a range of −30°C to +30°C. A standardized spreader bar, the lifting yoke that distributes the load across the four corners, is included for offshore cranes.
In the compact 10 ft format, the unit offers 12 m³ of usable volume (2.381 m × 2.284 m × 2.261 m) for a 12,400 kg payload. This is a format optimized for space-constrained areas on an offshore platform.
For a Used version, National Conteneur uses this technical base as a reference, then qualifies each unit according to its actual condition: structure, weatherproofing, doors, floor, markings, documents and equipment specific to the product family. The technical information therefore remains that of the model, while cosmetic condition, availability and certificates depend on the batch offered.
In detail
Why a Reefer container certified DNV 2.7-1?
The DNV 2.7-1 standard, current designation DNVGL-ST-E271, is issued by Det Norske Veritas, the Norwegian maritime certification body. It is mandatory for any transit by certified offshore crane to a platform, a wind farm or a support vessel, in the North Sea, the Caspian Sea or the North Atlantic. It requires cyclic fatigue tests, free-fall tests, unbalanced lift tests and lateral impact resistance tests, which simulate handling conditions in rough seas.
The Reefer and DNV combination meets a specific need: transporting temperature-sensitive products to an isolated platform, fresh food for the crew, medicines, biological samples, with the dual requirement of active thermal regulation and offshore lifting certification.
Applications
Keeping your products at the right temperature with a used 10 ft Reefer DNV
The cooling unit maintains a range of −30°C to +30°C even in rough seas, under polyurethane insulation on this compact format. Four categories of goods are well suited to it:
The applications below show the contexts in which this format is most relevant. Each use case links the on-site need to the concrete benefit of the container.
Highlights
Why buy a used 10 ft Reefer DNV Offshore container
The 10 ft Reefer DNV Offshore solves a two-constraint equation: maintaining the cold chain and being liftable at sea. The strengths below explain what each feature brings to this extreme use, dual certification, temperature range, reinforced structure, on a compact format built for crowded decks.
The strengths below explain what each technical choice brings to the project. They help compare the product with a less specialized alternative or a different condition.
-
Reefer certified DNV 2.7-1
The active cooling unit and offshore lifting certification are combined in a single unit. It's this dual capability that makes the container suitable for loading onto an offshore platform.
-
−30°C to +30°C temperature range
The cooling unit continuously maintains the set point, even when the vessel and platform are pitching. The cold chain is never interrupted by sea conditions.
-
Compact 10 ft format
12 m³ of usable volume optimized for constrained deck areas. On a platform where every square meter counts, this short format fits where a 20 ft would not.
-
Reinforced Corten and stainless steel casing
The structure is sized for maritime ruggedness and the impacts of handling at sea. It withstands the stresses that the DNV standard requires to be simulated in testing.
-
Offshore spreader bar and dedicated maintenance
The standardized lifting yoke is included, and maintenance is handled by certified refrigeration technicians. The unit arrives ready to be lifted and monitored on site.
-
ISO 6346 and ATP/CAT-S compliance
Beyond offshore use, the container remains suitable for multimodal transport under controlled temperature. It fits into both land and maritime logistics chains.

What is the price of a used 10 ft Reefer DNV Offshore container
The 10 ft Reefer DNV is an ultra-specialized market: it combines refrigeration regulation and offshore certification on a compact format, produced in very small runs.
Four factors drive the price observed:
The factors below explain why the price can vary from one quote to another. They help read a quote by distinguishing the product price, availability and delivery costs.
