What is a used 20 ft Half-Height Open Top container?
A Half-Height container is a shipping container with a reduced exterior height: 1.295 m, compared to about 2.59 m on a standard format. The Open Top variant receives a flexible cover; a reinforced polyester tarpaulin stretched by straps over removable metal bows. The term "used" means it is an inspected used unit, sourced from a used fleet that is inspected before being put back on sale.

This format combines the load density of the half-height with full top opening: simply undo the straps and roll back the tarpaulin to free up complete access to the floor, without removing the cover. The inspected used structure is built on a Corten steel casing, a weathering steel that naturally resists marine corrosion, fully welded, and a reinforced steel floor.
In the 20 ft format, the unit offers approximately 14.5 m³ of usable volume for a 21,790 kg payload. It's the reference for transporting concentrated dense loads, heavy bulk, ore, rubble, metals, soil, that a crane or excavator loads directly from the top.
For a Used version, National Conteneur uses this technical base as a reference, then qualifies each unit according to its actual condition: structure, weatherproofing, doors, floor, markings, documents and equipment specific to the product family. A standard shipping container is about 2.59 m high. For many dense goods, rubble, ore, scrap metal, this height serves no purpose: the load is heavy but not bulky, and the container reaches its weight limit long before it's full.
