What is a 20ft first-trip HC Double Door container?
A Double Door container is a container fitted with doors at both ends of the body, not just one. "HC" stands for High Cube: the container gains about 30 cm of height compared with the standard 8'6" format. "First-trip" means it is a new unit, out of the factory after a single positioning journey.
Both ends receive double doors opening at 270°: the container becomes a logistics tunnel, loaded from one side and unloaded from the other. The new structure combines a Corten steel body, a self-weathering steel that naturally resists marine corrosion, fully welded to the HC gauge, two identical sets of doors and a 28 mm marine plywood floor.
In the 20ft HC format, the unit offers 37.31 m³ of usable volume (5.9 m × 2.352 m × 2.69 m) for a 28,250 kg payload, 4.14 m³ more than a standard 8'6" 20 Double Door. The interior height of 2.69 m allows tiered palletizing, stacking pallets on two levels, in tunnel mode.
In detail
Double Door: what is a logistics tunnel for?
A standard container has doors at only one end. To empty it, you always come back to the same side. The Double Door adds a second set of doors at the other end of the body. The container becomes a tunnel: you go in one side, out the other.
This tunnel serves two warehouse logics. FIFO first; First In, First Out: the first pallet loaded is the first to come back out, without moving the others. Cross-docking next: placed between two docks, the container receives incoming goods on one side and ships out on the other, with no turning maneuver. Flows gain in speed and order.
Applications
Uses for a 20ft first-trip HC Double Door container
The HC format combines the bidirectional tunnel with extra height for tiered FIFO flows in warehouses. Four uses make the most of this combination:
The applications below show in which contexts this format is most relevant. Each use links the on-the-ground need to the container's concrete benefit.
Highlights
Why buy a 20ft first-trip HC Double Door container
The new 20ft HC Double Door combines the through-tunnel with the increased High Cube height. The strengths below explain what the extra 30 cm bring to cross-docking and why dual access detracts from neither payload nor robustness.
The strengths below explain what each technical choice brings to the project. They help compare the product with a less specialized alternative or a different condition.
-
Additional HC height
2.69 m of interior height, 30 cm more than the standard 8'6" 20 Double Door. This margin allows tiered palletizing on two levels.
-
Bidirectional tunnel
Double doors at 270° equip both ends. First-in first-out cross-docking operates in HC mode, with no turning.
-
Optimized volume
37.31 m³ usable, 4.14 m³ more than the standard 20 Double Door. The gain is entirely in height and remains immediately usable.
-
High payload
28,250 kg allowable, preserved despite the combination of HC height and double doors. Load capacity remains that of a standard Dry container.
-
Fully welded Corten HC body
The self-weathering steel structure guarantees maritime robustness. The container complies with ISO 6346 and CSC for multimodal transport.
-
28 mm marine plywood floor
A continuous surface that withstands rolling loads and pallet stacking. Through traffic does not wear down the floor.

What is the price of a 20ft first-trip HC Double Door container
The 20ft HC Double Door first-trip combines two specifications; HC height and double doors. It sits in a restricted niche segment of the container market.
Four factors influence the price observed:
The factors below explain why the price can vary from one quote to another. They help read a quote by distinguishing the price of the product, availability and delivery costs.
