What is a 40ft used Open Side container?
An Open Side container is a container with a side opening: an entire side of the body opens, in addition to the rear doors. On the 40ft format, this opening is accordion-style; folding panels that clear the full length, a 11.80 m × 2.18 m passage. "Used" means the unit has already been in service, then reconditioned at the depot.

The body, made of Corten steel, a self-weathering steel that naturally resists marine corrosion, is reinforced to compensate for the long side cutout. It is inspected at the depot before being put back into service; the continuous seals and folding panels with cam latches are inspected or replaced depending on condition.
The 40ft format offers 62.8 m³ of usable volume over 27.4 m² of floor space, for a 25,080 kg allowable load. At a controlled cost, it is a proven solution for heavy cross-docking and transferring pallets along the full length.
