What is a 10ft used insulated container?
An insulated container is a fully insulated body: its walls slow heat exchange between the goods and the outside. It does not produce cold; it preserves it. "Used" means the unit has already been in service, then reconditioned: inspected and refurbished at the depot. The 10ft format is the most compact in the range.
The body combines stainless steel and aluminum. The insulation, made of polyurethane foam, an insulating foam molded between two walls, is checked by a thermal test before being put back on sale. The aluminum-rail floor drains liquids and cleans easily. The rubber seals are inspected and the structure is refurbished.
The 10ft format offers 14.5 m³ of usable volume for an 8,500 kg allowable load, over 6.3 m² of floor space. Its standard exterior height of 2.591 m makes it compatible with any road handling equipment, with no adaptation. Its acquisition cost remains lower than that of a new unit.

Insulated or Reefer: what is the difference?
The insulated container and the Reefer belong to the same refrigerated family, but rely on two opposite principles. The Reefer, a refrigerated container, carries an active cooling unit: it produces its own cold and maintains a chosen temperature, from −25°C to +25°C. It must stay permanently plugged into a 380V three-phase electrical supply.
The insulated container, on the other hand, produces no cold at all. It simply slows heat exchange through its insulation. It works without electricity and without a cooling unit to maintain. To extend autonomy, eutectic plates are added; cold accumulators frozen in advance in a cold room. On the 10ft format, passive autonomy reaches 12 to 24 hours. The insulated container is therefore suited to short trips, where active cooling is not necessary.
Applications
Uses for a 10ft used insulated container
Reconditioned, this compact format targets uses where budget comes first, without giving up insulation performance.
The applications below show in which contexts this format is most relevant. Each use links the on-the-ground need to the container's concrete benefit.
Highlights
Why buy a 10ft used insulated container
The 10ft used insulated container offers a compact passive cold room at the lowest price in the segment. The strengths below show what the depot inspection guarantees on the one truly critical element, insulation, and why a body with no cooling unit lends itself particularly well to reuse.
The strengths below explain what each technical choice brings to the project. They help compare the product with a less specialized alternative or a different condition.
-
Affordable price
Used represents a net saving compared with first-trip. Since insulation is systematically checked by thermal test, this saving comes with no compromise on performance.
-
Body inspected at the depot
The polyurethane insulation is checked, the rubber seals inspected and the aluminum floor cleaned. The unit is refurbished, not simply resold as-is.
-
No electrical supply
The container is usable immediately on any site, with no 380V connection. This autonomy removes any power logistics and any electricity cost.
-
Sustainable approach
Reusing a reconditioned body avoids manufacturing a new unit. On an insulated container with no refrigeration circuit, the structure lends itself all the more to a second life cycle.
-
Minimal maintenance
With no cooling unit, there is no compressor to inspect or refrigerant to recharge. Operating cost is limited to checking the seals and cleanliness.
-
Re-validated compliance
ISO 6346 marking and the CSC plate are reissued after inspection; the Cargo Worthy rating remains possible to retain maritime use.
Applications
What is the price of a 10ft used insulated container
The used 10ft insulated segment belongs to a small secondary market. Availability depends on the arrival of converted Reefer bodies put back on the second-hand market.
